WASHINGTON, D.C. – As part of its National Mobilization Weekend, the Alliance for Climate Protection’s Repower America campaign fanned out across the country, going door to door in 20 states to educate the public about the benefits of transitioning to a clean energy economy. Members and volunteers knocked on more than 12,000 doors in every region of the country, talking to neighbors about how transitioning to a clean energy economy will create millions of new jobs and help solve the climate crisis.

"National Mobilization Weekend brought the grassroots movement for transitioning to a clean energy economy directly to the doors of thousands of American households," said Repower America Campaign Manager Steve Bouchard. "We will need Americans from all parts of the country and all walks of life to help make the transition to a clean energy economy that will help create millions of jobs, save our families money on their utility bills and end our harmful dependence on foreign oil."

Additionally, Repower America continues to expand its presence in local communities, opening more than 30 new offices in the coming months. By August 1, Repower America will open new offices in New Orleans, La.; Charleston, W.Va.; Columbus, Ohio; Pittsburgh, Pa.; Anchorage, Ala.; Dearborn, Mich.; Richmond, Va.; Fargo, N.D.; Sioux Falls, S.D.; Billings, Mont.; Portland, Maine; West Chester, Pa.; Little Rock, Ark.; and Indianapolis, Ind.

Mobilization Weekend is part of a larger dialogue Repower America is having with Americans across the country, providing them with the opportunity to meet with local economic experts, business and labor leaders, faith leaders and clean energy advocates as well as to make their voices heard through a nationwide series of community conversations. Since May, Repower America has sponsored 180 events throughout the nation. Through these discussions, everyday Americans learn about how a clean energy economy will:

  • Jumpstart our economy and create millions of jobs;
  • Help end our dependence on foreign oil;
  • Reduce the threat of harmful pollution;
  • Reward innovation and job creation; and
  • Help solve the climate crisis.

Repower America will continue to bring everyday Americans together in towns across the country to discuss the impacts of climate change on our economy, health and environment. Upcoming community meetings this week include events in Columbus, Ohio, Nashville, Tenn., Baton Rouge, La., and Portland, Maine.
