Major electric utility cuts ties to anti-clean energy lobby

Duke Energy, the third largest U.S. electric utility, broke from a prominent association that is lobbying against comprehensive clean energy legislation.

Duke spokesperson on why they left the American Coalition for Clean Coal Energy (ACCCE):

“It became clear that there were some influential members who would never support climate legislation no matter what.”

ACCCE was in the news for all the wrong reasons recently after a lobbying firm with which it contracted was caught sending letters opposing clean energy legislation to Members of Congress that had been forged on behalf of senior and minority groups.
